Canada’s MacLennan captures back-to-back golds

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL (NEWS 1130) – The Canadian women continue to rack up medals at the Summer Olympics in Rio.

King City, Ontario, native Rosie MacLennan won a gold medal in trampoline with a final score of 56.465. In the qualification round, she placed sixth in the first compulsory routine, before going for the highest degree of difficulty in the optional routine.

The 27-year-old, who also won gold at the London Games back in 2012 in the same event, was Canada’s flagbearer in the opening ceremony in Brazil.

Bryony Page of Great Britain captured the silver while China’s Dan Li earned the bronze.

Canada has now won two golds and nine medals in total in Rio.

This is Canada’s second medal of the day. This morning BC rowers Lindsay Jennerick and Patricia Obee won silver in the lightweight women’s double sculls.
