The long-weekend road-tripper’s forecast
VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – If you’re heading out of town this long weekend, the Okanagan would be a good bet, weather-wise.
NEWS 1130 meteorologist Russ Lacate says the forecast there looks mostly sunny.
“I don’t know that I could pick a sunnier getaway destination province-wide than the B.C. Southern Interior for this long weekend. Today remains dry. Your Saturday and Sunday outlook is sunny with a touch of frost on the pumpkin. Then for Thanksgiving Monday, that forecast comes with a healthy helping of clouds and cold rain.”

He says Whistler looks mainly dry today. “Spectacular views Saturday under a blue sky. Those are your long weekend forecast highlights. Colder air and wetter weather close in Sunday and for the holiday.”
If you’re heading to places like Victoria, Tofino, or the Comox Valley, you’ll want to bring your rain gear.
“It’s going to be wet over the island today, then turning sunnier Saturday — but Saturday only. It’s quite a lot of cold rain that will be descending over your Vancouver Island destinations Sunday and into Thanksgiving Monday,” says Russ.
B.C. Ferries has added more than 80 extra sailings to help you get to and from Vancouver Island over the next few days.
Russ says for cross-border shoppers heading to Seattle, the start to the long weekend isn’t looking great.

“Rain will spread across Puget Sound today and tonight. Count on seeing some improvement Saturday and Sunday. The pattern at least dries out. But chances are, you’ll be sitting in those border line-ups again on Thanksgiving Monday in the pouring rain.”
If you’re staying in town, Russ is calling for blue skies on Saturday, but showers are expected to close in by Thanksgiving.
