Police departments implementing ‘more efficient’ eTicket system across B.C.
WEST VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – The West Vancouver Police Department is one of a number of police department changing the way it issues tickets.
The new eTicket system — which was first tested by five agencies earlier this year — is being rolled out across the province.
Since it was first brought in on July 31st in West Vancouver, police there say they’ve issued more than 95 eTickets.

The system allows the details needed to issue a traffic ticket to be automatically filled out with the swipe of a driver’s license. The ticket is then printed from the police cruiser and the information is shared directly with ICBC.
“This system is simply a more efficient way for us to do business,” West Vancouver Police Constable Kevin Goodmurphy says. “The less time it takes our officers to issue a ticket, the more time they will have to focus on enforcement.”
So far, the West Vancouver Police Department says the new equipment required to issue eTickets has been installed in nine of its cruisers.
Police in Vancouver, Delta, New Westminster, and Port Moody are among officers in other jurisdictions who are also already using the new system.
