B.C. COVID-19 cases remain steady; province reports six deaths
VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Another 471 people in B.C. have tested positive for COVID-19. On Friday, the province reported the daily case numbers, bringing the total to 69,716.
In the past 24 hours, there were six deaths related to COVID-19.
These figures came on the heels of the province’s announcement that public health orders will remain in place indefinitely.

“Since we last reported, we have had 108 new cases of COVID-19 in the Vancouver Coastal Health region, 208 new cases in the Fraser Health region, 28 in the Island Health region, 56 in the Interior Health region, 71 in the Northern Health region and no new cases of people who reside outside of Canada,” reads a joint statement from Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie and Health Minister Adrian Dix.
“We have no new health-care facility outbreaks,” it added.

The province says nearly 150,000 vaccine doses have now been administered in B.C., over 10,000 of which are second doses.

The statement reports 253 people are in the hospital with COVID-19, including 70 who are in intensive care.
There have been a total of 1,246 COVID-19 related deaths in B.C.
Earlier Friday, the province announced that rules limiting parties, large weddings, and other social gatherings will remain in effect “until further notice.”
“I will be continually reviewing and reconsider the need for these restrictions based on the incidence and prevalence of the virus, the data that we’ve shown today, any new information about transmission, and the progress of our vaccination supply and our immunization program,” Henry said Friday morning, citing concerns around virus variants.
“The order came into effect November 19, 2020 at midnight and will be kept in place until further notice based on direction from the PHO,” the province’s website reads.
