Weekend stabbing near Port Coquitlam elementary school

One person has been hospitalized after a stabbing near an elementary school in Port Coquitlam early Saturday morning.

Coquitlam RCMP say they were called to the park area at Central Elementary School at around 1 a.m. after the victim was reportedly stabbed by a group of people. Police say the victim was able to get away and call 911. They were taken by ambulance to the hospital.

Investigators say this was an isolated incident, and that person was the only victim.

“Although the incident occurred on school grounds after hours, there does not appear to be any nexus between any students at the school and the alleged suspects.” said Cpl. Paige Kuz.
