Mounties in Surrey say they have found and arrested one of several individuals named in a public warning released earlier last month.

The RCMP says Shakiel Singh Basra, 28, and an associate were arrested in Richmond at around 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday.

“Shakiel Basra has been the subject of several public warnings over many years due to his involvement in criminal activity,” said Cst. Sarbjit Sangha, Surrey RCMP. “He is now facing new firearms charges in relation to his arrest on August 31.”

“These individuals are known to police and have been connected to high levels of gang and organized crime-related violence,” CFSEU-BC said.

“Police believe that anyone with, or in the proximity to these individuals may be putting themselves at risk.”

CFSEU-BC says family, friends, and associates of these gang members, as well as the general public, should “take measures to increase their own public safety.
