Richmond double shooting likely tied to gang conflict: IHIT

Homicide investigators say a double shooting in an upscale Richmond neighbourhood this week is likely connected to the ongoing Lower Mainland gang conflict

On Sunday, Oct. 2, officers were called to Sunnymede Crescent just off No. 3 Road just after 11 p.m. for reports of gunfire. When they arrived, police found two men shot. One man was confirmed dead while the other was in critical condition.

Hours later, a burned-out vehicle was found along 92 Avenue in Surrey. Police are working to determine a connection.

The 21-year-old who was killed has since been identified as Shemar Jack of Toronto. It’s unclear what his connections are to the Lower Mainland but investigators are working with their partners to figure it out.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team is looking to speak with anyone who was in the Sunnymede Crescent area the evening of Oct. 2 between 10 p.m. and midnight. Investigators are also hoping to speak with anyone who was in the area of 92 Avenue and Bothwell Drive on Oct. 3 between 6 a.m. and 8 a.m.

“If you have a vehicle with a dash camera, please check to see if it has any recordings. Some vehicle cameras record, even while the engine is off,” Sgt. Timothy Pierotti of IHIT added.
