Suspect in alleged Vancouver stranger attack wanted Canada-wide

A person has been charged and a Canada-wide warrant has been issued after a stranger attack left a 19-year-old woman hurt in downtown Vancouver last month.

Vancouver police say 35-year-old Mohammed Majidpour is facing one count of assault with a weapon in relation to the incident on Sept. 27.

According to the VPD, a student was walking in the area of Dunsmuir Street and Cambie Street when they were attacked. Police believe the incident was racially motivated.

When officers tried to find a suspect, they weren’t able to. The VPD later released a photo of a man with the hopes of identifying him.

“Now that Majidpour has a warrant for his arrest, our next goal is to get [him back] into custody as soon as possible,” said Const. Jason Doucette.

“We are asking the public to have a good look at his photo and to call 9-1-1 if they spot him,” Doucette added.

The suspect is described as approximately 5’7” tall, 150 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. Police say he is often unshaven.

Anyone with information is asked to call 9-1-1 and not to approach him.
