City of Vancouver warns drivers about parking ticket scam

The City of Vancouver is warning drivers about a text scam, where people are sent fake overdue parking ticket notices.
In an alert, the city says it doesn’t send parking notifications via text, and to report the messages if you get one.

“These text messages are not from us, do not click the link or provide payment details, report these messages to your cellphone provider and then delete them,” the city said in the alert.
It adds that tickets from the city are given out on vehicles, or mailed to car owners.
