New Westminster assault suspect arrested in Maple Ridge

A high risk arrest took place in Maple Ridge last month, after a suspect wanted on multiple warrants was taken into custody.
The arrest occurred Dec. 30, with 26-year-old Joshawa Hall taken in by the New Westminster Police Department (NWPD).
Hall’s name is connected to a few infractions, along with the early 2022 assault he was brought in for, including breaching court-imposed bail conditions, failing to appear in court, and evading arrest.

The alleged assault took place Jan. 25 of last year in New Westminster, in which the suspect allegedly assaulted a female, barricaded himself in a house, and refused to leave.
Police dogs and more were called in to remove the suspect from the home.
NWPD Sergeant Justine Thom says the arrest was made possible with the help of the Lower Mainland Emergency Response Team, the New Westminster Police Department Gang Suppression Unit, Street Crime Unit, Crime Reduction Unit, patrol members, and the Ridge Meadows RCMP.
“We’d like to thank the numerous specialty teams of the New Westminster Police Department who located this individual and co-ordinated his arrest,” stated Sgt. Justine Thom. “Additional thanks to the residents and motorists of Maple Ridge, who were patient and supportive as we co-ordinated this arrest,” she added.
At this point in time, Hall remains in police custody.
