B.C. police officer accused of filming women during sex; RCMP investigating

A police officer in B.C.’s Sea to Sky region is being investigated after allegations were brought forward by women claiming he secretly recorded them during sex.

The officer, who CityNews is not naming as charges have not been laid, is a member of the Stl’atl’imx Tribal Police Service (STPS), based in Mount Currie, not far from Pemberton.

The department says the officer is on leave pending the results of an ongoing investigation.

STPS Police Chief Constable Deborah Doss-Cody says the service learned of the allegations on Dec. 22, 2022. After women came forward, Doss-Cody says the RCMP was contacted, given the “alleged activities” were said to have taken place outside of STPS jurisdiction.

“The STPS take any allegations of criminal wrongdoing by any employee of their police service very seriously. We have taken measures to ensure a full and fair investigation while making every attempt to maintain community trust,” Doss-Cody said.

“We believe others need to tell their truths about what happened to them, and we encourage any person who may have been involved or has knowledge of these matters to reach out to the RCMP investigators and Victim Services.”

OPCC investigating 

The Sea to Sky RCMP General Investigation Section has been tasked with the investigation, and the matter has also been referred to the Office of the Police Complaint Commissioner (OPCC).

In a statement to CityNews, the OPCC confirms it has also launched an investigation alongside a criminal probe into the allegations.

“We have been advised that a criminal investigation will be undertaken by the RCMP and as such the Police Act investigation has been suspended pending this outcome. As there is an active criminal investigation underway, the OPCC is unable to provide further details,” the email concludes.

With the investigation underway, Whistler-Pemberton RCMP Victim Services is offering confidential support to anyone in need.
