Vancouver Park Board to remove majority of Stanley Park bike lanes

The Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation has rendered a decision on the future of Stanley Park Drive’s bike lane, voting Monday night to remove the temporary bike lanes.

The board chose between three options outlined by park board staff.

Commissioners discussed the positives and negatives of installing permanent bike lanes, preserving interim lanes, or getting rid of them altogether.

Eventually, commissioners voted and gave staff until November 2023 to put together a new bike lane proposal for summer 2024.

“Stanley Park is a world class park, and it deserves a world class bike lane,” said Commissioner Jas Virdi during the discussion.
