In a news release, SAR says the Coquitlam RCMP received three reports of people that were lost near Buntzen Lake in Anmore, along with the Upper Pit River area of Port Coquitlam.
The agency says with the help of the search and rescue teams, three people, along with an animal, were rescued.

“It’s certainly unusual and concerning to have this many search and rescue reports in such a short period of time,” Corp. Alexa Hodgins explained.
“We are thankful for the quick response by Coquitlam SAR to each of these reports as their efforts ultimately resulted in the safe return of everyone involved.”
Crews are reminding people heading outdoors to be prepared while hiking, and that it is still winter conditions on many hiking trails across the region.
“At this time of year, it is still winter with snow on the ground on the high trails,” Stu Fleming, search manager for Coquitlam SAR said. “If you encounter snow or something changes during your trip plan, we encourage outdoor enthusiasts to re-assess their plans.”
