Thousands compete in Vancouver Half Marathon
Thousands laced up their running shoes Sunday to participate in the Vancouver Half Marathon.
This year marked the 25th anniversary of the event, and organizers say more than 4,600 people participated in the half marathon and 5K.
“Vancouver’s Thomas Nobbs (1:05:16) dominated the men’s field to cross the line more than two minutes ahead of the rest; while Scottland’s Sarah Inglis (1:15:34) held off defending champion Samantha Jory to claim the women’s winning crown,” event organizers say.

The day also saw $300,000 raised for nearly 30 charities as organizers say 350 people participated in the day’s Charity Challenge.
Ryan Chilibeck, the race director at Canada Running Series West, says it was an “incredible day.”
“It never gets old seeing my community, charity runners and everyone in between run through Vancouver,” he said.
“The weather, plus everyone’s energy made for a spectacular day of racing with the West Coast’s finest scenery as a backdrop.”
Both events started on Northwest Marine Drive, with the half marathon ending at the Museum of Vancouver and the five-kilometre event at the University of British Columbia.
