Popular B.C. DJ hosts pop-up rave on SkyTrain
Instead of transporting people to the party, Vancouver’s SkyTrain became the party Friday night.
Popular B.C.-based DJ and Juno Award winner Felix Cartal hosted a pop-up event Friday in a SkyTrain car.
The DJ posted to Instagram the night before with the caption “Text TRAIN to the number if you’re in Vancouver and wanna roll.”

According to posts on social media, the mysterious party location was revealed after party-goers texted the number.
Posts online show a jam-packed SkyTrain car with dim, multi-coloured lighting and Cartal’s soundboard in the middle of it all. Behind Cartal, people hold up speakers for the DJ while others jump and sing along to the beats.
In a statement to CityNews, TransLink says while it doesn’t approve of the event, Cartal’s pop-up didn’t cause any service disruptions.
“We appreciate the desire for a spontaneous event which brings people together on transit. However, we don’t condone or encourage such behaviour as these types of events may interfere with our ability to safely and reliably offer transit service to all of our customers,” it said in an emailed statement.
Cartal will be playing the Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver on Dec. 22, as part of his tour that also features stops in Toronto and Montreal.
