Delta shooting victim dies of injuries: police

Delta police say the victim of a shooting earlier this month has succumbed to their injuries.

The case has now turned into a homicide investigation, though police have not released any details about the person who was shot, at the request of the family.

Investigators do say the victim is known to them, but details about any prior interactions are not clear. The shooting has been described as targeted, with police noting the gang affiliation of “those involved.”

It happened in the area of 82nd Avenue near 112th Street just before 6 p.m. on Dec. 14.

Police said at the time that officers arrived to find one person with severe injuries.

Investigators reported that a vehicle was found on fire in Surrey shortly after the shooting. It’s believed the two cases are related, with Delta police taking over the Surrey file.
