Man caught with $6k worth of stolen coats on SkyTrain: Transit police
Transit police say a man could be facing charges after he was reportedly caught with more than $6,000 worth of stolen coats on the SkyTrain this week.
The force says officers were called to Joyce Station in Vancouver Monday just before 5 p.m. after a SkyTrain attendant saw a man on a train “with two rolling racks containing brand-new winter coats.”
Metro Vancouver Transit Police officers boarded the train a short time later, eventually catching up with the 35-year-old suspect, who still had the coats in his possession, according to investigators.

In total, police say 34 coats were seized. The total value of the garments is about $6,100, they add.
It’s believed the coats may have been taken during a break and enter in Burnaby, though police say the suspect has been “released pending further investigation.”
Though charges have not been laid, transit police say counts of possession of stolen property and break and enter are being considered.
