More cold coming for Metro Vancouver before temperatures rise
The Lower Mainland isn’t through with the cold just yet, as temperatures are expected to remain below seasonal for the coming days.
CityNews Meteorologist Michael Kuss says although the risk of snow is decreasing across the region, “cold air will hang on through Thursday.”
“Overnight lows will fall to -3°C to -5°C Tuesday and Wednesday morning. That won’t be record-breaking, but still at least 5 degrees colder than normal,” he explained Monday.

“A ridge of arctic high pressure will keep it cold through Thursday. Rain returns for the end of the week and into the weekend.”
While you won’t be able to put your coat away just yet, Kuss says “warmer and closer to seasonal” temperatures are in the forecast starting Friday.
“The pattern will bring a series of wet weather events through Vancouver with the rain even potentially falling on the North Shore Ski hills,” he added. Listen to CityNews 1130 LIVE now!
This winter season has brought with it a variety of conditions, with warmer-than-seasonal temperatures making way for a less-than-ideal ski season on local mountains.
However, that was followed by a blast of cold, with snow dumping on the mountains in recent weeks.
