2 charged after fatal stabbing in Burnaby: IHIT
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team says charges have been laid after a man was fatally stabbed in Burnaby on Monday evening.
Around 6:15 p.m., Burnaby RCMP officers were called to a stabbing along 1st Avenue near Ingleton Avenue, in the city’s Willingdon Heights neighbourhood.
“Upon arrival, police located a 40-year-old man suffering from stab wounds. Despite the efforts of first responders, the man succumbed to his injuries,” the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team said in a statement.

32-year-old Riza Jafari and 28-year-old Hatice Haydari have now both been charged with second-degree murder.
“As the parties were all known to one another, investigators do not believe there is any ongoing risk to public safety,” said Cpl. Esther Tupper.
“Burnaby Fire Department and Emergency Health Services also attended the scene. First responders attempted life-saving measures, however, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.”
Police remained in the area throughout the night collecting evidence for their investigation.
It’s the second homicide in the Lower Mainland in just as many days. On Sunday night, a woman was killed in Surrey’s Port Kells neighbourhood.
