Hwy 1 collision injures ‘multiple people’ near Field, B.C.: RCMP

A section of Highway 1 has reopened Wednesday night near the Alberta border at Field, B.C., after what police say was a serious car crash that sent six people to hospital.

Golden-Field RCMP says it was a “serious two-vehicle collision” that happened around 12:20 p.m. at Emerald Lake Road and Highway 1.

In an X post, BC Emergency Health Services says four ambulances with primary care paramedics, one Banff ambulance, an advanced care paramedic response unit and two air ambulances were sent to the scene.

BC EHS says six people received emergency medical treatment and were transported to hospital.

As of 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, DriveBC says the highway has reopened. Drivers can still expect major delays due to congestion in the area.

Police are asking anyone who saw the collision to contact the Golden-Field RCMP at 250-344-2221.
