It adds the Commerical Vehicle Safety and Enforcement (CVSE) branch of the ministry is investigating.
Overpass strikes have been an ongoing problem in this province over the last couple of years.
Earlier this year, former Transportation Minister Rob Fleming announced companies involved in overpass and infrastructure crashes could be fined $100,000 and jail time could be handed down to offenders. The province also proposed “imprisonment up to 18 months upon conviction for violations.”
Previous changes were also announced to the Commercial Transport Act and took effect this past June. Those included new technical requirements for companies, including over-height warning devices and speed limiters for commercial trucks.
This latest incident is the 27th time this year, an overpass has been struck in B.C.
