Attempted murder charges laid against woman accused of driving car into Fraser River

Delta Police have charged a woman with two counts of attempted murder after she allegedly attempted to drive her car into the Fraser River with two young children inside late last month.

Police responded to calls around 9:30 a.m. on Nov. 29 and found the car stuck in the foreshore of the river, at the 8200 block or River Rd., and not in the water. Prior to the police’s arrival, Delta Fire and good Samaritans came to the aid of the three individuals.

The woman remains in police custody while awaiting her first court appearance. A publication ban is in place to protect the children’s identity. The Delta Police Department says it will not release the driver’s identity.
