Canadian Tire recalls battery charger

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Canadian Tire is voluntarily recalling the Mastercraft three hour battery charger, model number 54-2973, sold with the Mastercraft 18V Cordless Drill kits and combo kits (Canadian Tire product No.’s 54-2973 and 54-2772).
It has been determined that the drill charger may overheat, posing a safety concern. The kits were available at Canadian Tire stores between 2000 and 2009. There have been reported incidents of minor property damage. As a result, customers are asked to immediately discontinue the use of these products.
Customers should contact Techtronic Industries, toll-free at 1-800-597-9624, for information on having the replacement charger shipped to them at no cost.
