VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Even though the Games have come and gone, Vancouver is still so popular hotel rates remain high. That’s not the case for other destinations. The March 2010 Hotwire Canadian Hotel Rate Report has found hotel prices have dropped throughout most of the country. Calgary tops the list with a drop of 10 per cent over one year ago.
Wendy Underwood with Tourism Vancouver says you shouldn’t expect to see Vancouver prices to decline anytime soon. “There’s a certain amount of interest the destination has garnered, resulting from hosting the Olympic Winter Games. All of those things drive demand. The more demand there is, the less you’re going to see prices discounted.”
Edmonton, London and Ottawa also made the top five list with drops of seven, two and one per cent.
