Warren Glowatski granted full parole

VICTORIA (NEWS1130) – The man who spent seven years in jail for helping to kill Reena Virk has been granted full parole. Warren Glowatski was 17 when he and several other girls beat and drown the Victoria teen in 1997.

He was given a life sentence for his role in her death. Glowatski was tried as an adult and was convicted of second degree murder back in 1999, but he has been on day parole for three years.

He has also since made contact with and has received the support of Reena’s family. Reena’s Mom, Suman Virk, says they prepared for this and they are hoping Glowatski will stay out of trouble. “We don’t want to hear anything else about him. I hope this is the end and he has truly turned his life around for his sake and ours.”

She says the family now wants closure. “Time has made a difference. I think the major parts of the grief and loss have dissipated, also now lives have been going on. We just became grandparents.”
