“A Kettle of Fish” to close on Sunday
VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Vancouver restaurant A Kettle of Fish is closing its doors on Sunday after 31 years in business at the corner of Hornby and Pacific Streets, but the co-owner says don’t blame it on the bike lanes.
Riley Anderson says there were other factors that led to the decision, which was made about a year ago. “The bike lane for us is maybe one of them, but there’s also been the HST, the strength of the Canadian dollar, and new drinking and driving regulations as well.”
He says the biggest reason for closing down has probably been trying to work out the lease with their landlord, The City of Vancouver. “We couldn’t get a lease that was satisfactory to us. We needed a strong lease, and we couldn’t get that from them.”

He says there are no hard feelings toward the city.
The restaurant will close its doors after dinner service on Sunday. Anderson expects a tower will eventually replace the building.
