Council asks Maclean’s to apologize for “Too Asian?” article

By

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – The Chinese Canadian National Council says it is rejecting a letter from the publisher of Maclean’s after the magazine published an article asking if Canadian universities are too Asian.

The Council says it doesn’t think Maclean’s has adequately addressed its concerns and it wants an unqualified public apology.

Maclean’s says the phrase “Too Asian” is a direct quote from the title of a 2006 US meeting on college admission counselling and while it expected the title to be provocative, it didn’t mean to offend anyone.

Maclean’s is published by Rogers, the parent company of News1130.
