Penny-pinching Scrooge McDuck tops the list this year because of rising commodity prices. His vast fortune of gold is now estimated at $44.1 billion US.
Compound interest over 370 years puts immortal value investor and vampire Carlisle Cullen at #2. The price of black gold is also up this year and so is Jed Clampett’s fortune. The Beverly Hillbilly has a net worth of $9.5 billion US.
Richie Rich is still rich, Tony Stark is making a killing selling weapons, and pity the singed soul who had to count the plunder of Smaug the dragon from the Hobbit. Using complex calculations involving dragon size, mound height, and the price of commodities, diamonds, and rare antiques, the wyrm’s worth is estimated at $8.6 dollars US — enough for #7 on the list.
