HONG KONG (NEWS1130) – An airport worker in Hong Kong has been convicted of conspiracy and other charges connection with the case of a Chinese man who flew to Vancouver last year wearing an ‘old white man’ mask.
Passengers on the Vancouver-bound flight were shocked when the young man removed his disguise halfway through the trip.
The convicted airport worker, whose name is under a publication ban, was part of a group that helped smuggle people using bogus passports and boarding passes.
People said the man in the mask had “young-looking hands.” The Chinese man sought asylum after arriving in Vancouver and was detained by the Canadian Border Services Agency.
