PORT COQUITLAM (NEWS1130) – RCMP say a man in his 50s died instantly after being hit by a dump truck in Port Coquitlam on Friday.
It happened just before noon on Coast Meridian Rd. at Manning, and the intersection had to be closed for several hours.
Sgt. Daniel Pons with Coquitlam RCMP says it appears the man walked in front of the truck.
“The coroner has attended and the commercial vehicle inspector has attended as well,” Pons says. “At this point the cause of the accident is undetermined.”
He adds there is a witness who is helping investigators. The victim’s name was not released Friday as police were trying to notify his family.
Pons said the dump truck driver was extremely shaken up but is physically OK.
