White Rock NHL defenceman is coming home

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – White Rock defenceman Jason Garrison has been signed to a six year,$27.6 million contract by the Canucks. The 27-year-old scored 16 goals and had 17 assists with Florida last season.

The salary cap hit for the Canucks will be $4.6 million per season, which is the same as the clubs highest paid rear guard Kevin Bieksa. Dan Hamhuis is at $4.5 million per season.

The former Nanaimo Clipper had a goal and two assists in four games in the playoffs for the Panthers.

The Canucks lost a pair of defenders.

After nine seasons with the Canucks, veteran Sami Salo is off to Tampa. Salo will be 38-years-old in September. Lightning GM Steve Yzerman forked over $7.5 million over two seasons for the Finnish blue liner.

Aaron Rome is headed to Dallas, where the Stars will pay him an average of $1.5 million over three seasons. Rome made $800,000 with the Canucks last season.
