Tips on travelling this long weekend

By

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Thousands of you are likely travelling somewhere this long weekend — either by car or ferry.

You’ll avoid a headache simply by planning ahead.

It is one of the deadliest weekends, with nearly 2,000 crashes reported every year.

Ken Cousin with BCAA has some common sense advice.

“Keeping your eyes on the road, removing all those distractions such as cell phones, which of course reduce your awareness and driving performance,” he says.

There will be extra sailings for any of you traveling with BC Ferries.

If you’re heading to Vancouver Island — consider going via Duke Point because it’s not as busy.

And we’ll keep you in the loop with updates from border agents to get you home on time.
