Deadly stabbing in Richmond

RICHMOND (NEWS1130) – A 38-year-old man has died in what police are calling a domestic dispute in Richmond.

Mounties were called to an apartment complex on Ackroyd Road, not far from Lansdowne Center, just after 12:30 a.m.

When police arrived, they found a man suffering from what appeared to be stab wounds. The BC Ambulance Service was also called in and paramedics pronounced the man dead at the scene.

The RCMP Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has taken over the case and will be at the scene for the remainder of the day.

“A 35-year-old female has been arrested and is in custody and I can tell you that female appears to be the wife of the victim,” says IHIT Sgt. Jennifer Pound.

She adds no charges have been laid at this time.

People who live in the building were shocked to see yellow police tape surrounding their building.

This woman tells News1130 it’s a quiet apartment complex and people tend to keep to themselves. “We don’t know each other, because [by] the time we arrive home, we just stay inside our apartment.”

Police are not releasing the man’s name until his family has been notified.
