VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Along with the pens and binders, electronic gadgets will be in the book bags of students all over BC. News1130 is speaking with a tech journalist about what you need to know before heading back to school.
Akash Sablok says your best bet may be a tablet.
“These new tablets that are out there have really taken all of the features that you need — I’d say about 90 per cent of the features of a laptop, or even a desktop computer — and put it into a small device,” he explains.
If you’re looking for a laptop, Sablok says you’re going to be impressed. “Laptops, every year, I think ‘Okay, this is it. They can’t get any better, they can’t get any faster or cooler.’ But they do it.”
He says you can’t go wrong with the Ultrabook from Intel; they’re lightweight, easy to use, and full-powered, which is good news for students worried about their computer dying or running out of memory.
“For a decent Ultrabook, you’re looking at about $600 to $700 and up,” he adds.
