LOWER MAINLAND (NEWS1130) – The roads, sewers, and waterworks you depend on every day are crumbling, according to a damning new report card from the Federation of Canadian Municipalities.
The report calls for $200 billion in upgrades. We hit the street to find out what you want to see done.
People News1130 spoke with are keeping it simple; they say “fix the potholes!” That’s just one of seven problems outlined in this report, which finds all kinds of roads across the country are in need of fixing.
We spoke with one man who is pleased with how the roads in his area are being taken care of. “A little bit of bumps and holes and things… nothing in particular, though.”
If you’ve ever been stuck in traffic in the Lower Mainland (and who hasn’t?), you’ll understand why many people tell us unclogging congested roads should be a huge priority.
However, we did speak with one man who is pleased with some construction projects, like the new Port Mann Bridge. “They’re working on it and I gotta say that they’re doing a good job.”
