SEATTLE, WA (NEWS1130) – Russell Wilson threw his second touchdown pass of the game to Golden Tate as time expired and it held up after a review as the Seattle Seahawks earned a 14-12 win over the Green Bay Packers.
The Seahawks were facing a 4th-and-10 from the 24-yard line with just seconds left on the clock. Wilson hurled one into the left corner of the endzone and it appeared that Green Bay’s M.D. Jennings came up with an interception, but the play was ruled a touchdown. The score was reviewed but the call was upheld.
Wilson opened the scoring with a 41-yard touchdown pass to Tate in the second quarter.
Seattle’s defence was dominant to begin the game. The ‘Hawks sacked Packers’ quarterback Aaron Rodgers eight times in the first half, including four by Chris Clemons.
The Packers finally got the offence moving in the second half as Rodgers led his team to a pair of field goals to pull within a point.
Green Bay then moved ahead with a short touchdown run by Cedric Benson, but the Packers failed to convert on a two-point attempt, giving them a 12-7 lead.
The Seahawks were able to stop the Packers on a three-and-out, forcing them to punt the ball away with 57 seconds left, which led to the game-winning score.
The win moves Seattle to 2-1, while Green Bay drops to 1-2 to start the season, doubling the amount of losses it had last season.
