A huge spike in passenger traffic expected at YVR

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Tis’ the season for high passenger volumes at YVR.
60,000 passengers a day are expected at the airport this month as people hop on planes to visit friends and relatives for the holidays. That’s a 30 per cent increase compared to a normal day at YVR.
Reg Krake, Director of Customer Care at Vancouver International Airport says it has dedicated more staff and an army of volunteers to cope with the airport being extra busy. He’s also stressing that anyone who is taking a flight be prepared before hand as well. “Before your travel date, check-in with your airline because the schedule can change last minute, pre-print your boarding passes, try to leave about an hour extra travel time to get to the airport.”
He equates it to filling BC Place. Security lines tend to get long at this time of year, so he says make sure you check all security regulations before heading to the airport. Most importantly, don’t take any wrapped presents in your carry-on.
