ROCHESTER, NY (NEWS1130) – T.J. Brennan had the only goal of the shootout and it came in the sixth round as the Abbotsford Heat fell 3-2 to the Rochester Americans in AHL action. Barry Brust made 29 saves in the loss.

The teams played a closely contested first period with neither side able to find the game’s opening goal. Abbotsford held a slight 10-9 advantage in shots through twenty minutes.

Frederick Roy opened the scoring for the home team just shy of the eight-minute mark in the second period.

It took less than four minutes for the Heat to respond as Dustin Sylvester tied the game on the powerplay with his sixth goal of the year.

Rochester managed to grab the lead back just before the second intermission. Luke Adam beat Brust to make it 2-1 with just 19 seconds to play in the middle period.

Paul Byron scored the game-tying goal a little over seven-and-a-half minutes into the third period, which set up overtime.

After neither team could find the winning goal in the extra period, they headed to the shootout where Brennan secured the win for the Americans.

Abbotsford beat the Toronto Marlies 3-2 on Sunday as it took three of a possible four points on its two-game road trip.

The Heat will return home to host the Texas Stars for a pair of games on Friday and Saturday.
