NORTH VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Renewed warnings aren’t enough to keep people off the Grouse Grind.
Hikers continue to head up the trails despite the latest requests to stay away.
Sam Jun is among those who decided to spend Christmas Eve hiking up the Grouse Grind, despite the closure.
Reporter: “Do you think it’s dangerous?”
Jun: “No, I don’t think so.”
Reporter: “Do you go there often?”
Jun: “Yep.”
He’s not the only one going around the fence and up the mountain.
James North had plans for the nearby BCMC trail.
“Morally we shouldn’t be doing it. I hate to say it, but it would be an easy rescue for them probably, if there was any problem.”
There were new calls this past weekend to stay off the closed trails after search and rescue responded to concerns about an injured hiker.
