Giants try to make up ground on Cougars

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – The Vancouver Giants have kicked off their post-Christmas schedule with two losses in the past two nights and they’ll look to get back on the right track today against the Prince George Cougars.

The Giants will be playing their third game in three days. They lost 5-3 to the Kelowna Rockets on Friday and then fell 9-5 to the Kamloops Blazers last night. Vancouver has lost four games in a row.

Prince George (12-19-5) sits 11 points up on Vancouver (9-27-0) for fourth place in the BC Division, while both teams sit outside of the playoff picture in the WHL’s Western Conference. The Cougars are three points behind the eighth-place Everett Silvertips, while the Giants trail by 14 points.

This will be the fifth meeting of the season between the teams. Each team has a pair of victories in their first four contests. Vancouver earned a 4-3 victory on Nov.11 and then Prince George took two-of-three games in a weekend series on Dec. 14-16.

Puck drop at the Pacific Coliseum is 4 p.m.
