Giants fall to Tigers for third straight loss

MEDICINE HAT, AB (NEWS1130) – The Vancouver Giants allowed the game-winning goal less than 90 seconds after the opening face-off as they lost their third game in a row with a 4-0 defeat at the hands of the Medicine Hat Tigers.

It took just 1:21 for the home team to get on the board as Blake Penner beat Payton Lee. The Tigers took a 1-0 lead into the first intermission, despite being outshot 16-12 by the Giants.

Medicine Hat extended its lead with 1:44 remaining in the second period. Trevor Cox buried his 12th goal of the season to make it 2-0.

The Tigers put things out of reach in the third period, with goals by Jacob Doty and Gavin Broadhead rounding out the scoring.

Cam Lanigan of the Tigers turned aside all 31 shots he faced to record the shutout. The Giants were blanked for the sixth time this season and second time in the last three games.

After opening up their five-game road trip through Alberta with a win over Red Deer, the Giants have lost three in a row and will finish the trip Wednesday in Lethbridge.
