Schneider to start against Calgary

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Cory Schneider will be in goal Wednesday night when the Canucks host the Calgary Flames. Schneider said today he hasn’t thought much about his shaky season debut against Anaheim Saturday and admits the loss to the Ducks was a forgettable performance.
“Not the way I wanted to start. Hopefully its a progression where it gets better. I don’t know if it can get much worse so I’m just hitting the re-set button,” says Schneider who allowed 5 goals on 14 shots in the loss to Anaheim.
Meanwhile with reports that GM Mike Gillis has a deal in place that could send Roberto Luongo out of town at last, Luongo said today that Gillis hasn’t approached him and until that happens, he has nothing to report. Gillis told The Vancouver Sun that the Canucks have a potential deal in place with one team that has to do something with another player that they have.
Canucks coach Alain Vigneault scrambled the forward lines at today’s practice, placing Zack Kassian on the top line with the Sedins, and playing winger Alex Burrows at centre on a line with Chris Higgins and Jannik Hansen which will likely serve as the second line against Calgary tomorrow.
Jordan Shroeder, left off the Canucks’ opening night roster was re-called from the AHL and was skating today on a line with Dale Weise and Mason Raymond. Shroeder, 22, the Canucks first round pick, (22nd overall) in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft will make his NHL debut in tomorrow’s home game with Calgary.
