VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – A group of unionized workers at BC Place has served 72-hour strike notice.
The BCGEU‘s Karen Tankard says job action will start Monday morning.
“There is an event happening during the weekend, it’s the Monster Jam, and job action will not affect that event.”
Union members include those who work in the control room, event security, and house-keeping, but does not involve food service employees.
As for the upcoming Chinese New Year and Boat Show events, Tankard isn’t sure what will happen.
“It’s hard to say, we are not ruling anything in or out at this point. All we can say right now, is that we have job action that is commencing on Monday at 9:15 a.m.,” she says.
The strike notice follows months of negotiations.
