Canada falls short in Davis Cup doubles at UBC

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Spain came back from a 2-1 set deficit to beat the Canadian duo of Daniel Nestor and Vancouver’s Vasek Pospisil 4-6, 6-4, 6-7, 6-3, 6-2 in Davis Cup World Group action. Canada leads 2-1 overall.
The match lasted almost four hours at the Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre.
The highlight of the match for the home side came when the Canucks won the third set tie break 7-4 to take a 2-1 advantage in the match.
The Spanish duo of Marcel Granollers and Marc Lopez kept the number one ranked country in world alive after losing the third set.
The best-of-five World Group tie will conclude on Sunday with two singles matches.
The 15th ranked player in the world, Milos Raonic of Canada will square off with Granollers at 11 A.M. The Spaniard is ranked 34th on the planet.
The final singles match pits Canada’s Frank Dancevic versus Albert Ramos.
Spain is playing without David Ferrer and Rafa Nadal who are ranked fourth and fifth respectively in the world rankings of men’s singles.
