Giants try for weekend series split with Rockets

KELOWNA (NEWS1130) – The Vancouver Giants will try to bounce back from last night’s 5-1 loss to the Kelowna Rockets as the two teams have travelled to the interior for a rematch. It’s their sixth meeting this season.
The Giants loss last night came after a 5-1 win over the Prince Albert Raiders on Wednesday night, which ended a six-game losing streak. Vancouver has won just two of its past 13 games.
Kelowna has dominated the season series through the first five contests. The Rockets have won four of those meetings, outscoring Vancouver 25-11.
The two teams are in the midst of very opposite seasons. The Rockets (39-10-4) have a nine-point lead over Kamloops for top spot in the BC Division. The Giants (13-39-0) are last in the division, trailing Prince George by 12 points.
Kelowna has one of the top offence’s in the WHL. The Rockets have scored a league-high 239 goals and have the second-best goals-per-game average, behind only Portland. Vancouver has scored just 142 goals so far.
