Surrey Liberal candidate withdraws

SURREY (NEWS1130) – Income tax charges have forced a Liberal in Surrey to withdraw as a candidate for the provincial election in May.
It was revealed this week that Sukh Dhaliwal faces six charges of failing to file income taxes on a business he owned with his wife.
Dhaliwal, who had been acclaimed to run in the Surrey-Panorama riding last October, says he had hoped the case would be resolved quickly, but that’s not happening and he didn’t want the tax issue to detract from the election campaign.
He refused to answer questions about why he didn’t tell the Liberal party sooner about his tax woes, but he has insisted his taxes on his own company and his personal taxes are up to date.
