Cruise prices likely to drop after ship gets stranded

By

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Travel experts expect cruise prices to drop in the near future as people worry about ship safety in light of a fire that had left a Carnival Cruise ship floating in the Gulf of Mexico.

Claire Newell with Travel Best Bets says it is common when something of concern happens on a ship or at a travel destination. “When something like this happens and it gets a lot of media coverage, often, it will take prices lowering a bit  before people get back on cruising.”

Newell says it could have an impact on the local Alaska cruise industry.

The Carnival Triumph is being towed to Alabama — while some 4,000 people on board have no electricity or usable toilets.
