Housing development planned for at-risk teens

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Another building is going up in Vancouver to help get people off the streets.
This time, it’s at Fraser and Broadway.
“We want to move them beyond the temporary shelter to secure housing and gain greater reliance and appropriate employment, and those types of things that can change their lives for a long time,” says Housing Minister Rich Coleman.
Vancouver Mayor Gregor Robertson says the development will have 30 units for at-risk teens.
“These 14 buildings, lots of homes that are being created here in Vancouver and across the province. It’s catch up, we’ve had a lot of people, unfortunately living on our streets, outside, without the kind of care and housing they need,” he says.
This is the 12th of 14 projects around the province
