Neighbours in disbelief after more bodies found in Surrey

SURREY (NEWS1130) – Police are on scene again after two more bodies were discovered on Colebrook Road.

The first body was found by an officer on patrol; a police dog found the second body.

Sgt. Jennifer Pound with IHIT says neither victim has been identified and police are still trying to determine any possible links.

She says foul play is suspected in both cases.

That brings to total number of bodies discovered on that stretch to four since the beginning of the year.

Before this latest discovery, police had promised to step up patrols.

Howard lives in the area, and says the rural area can be a haven for criminals. “The presence of the police is here. It’s just that there’s so much going on, the minute they leave, there will be somebody else on their way down Colebrook Road to do what they have to do.”

He says it wasn’t that shocking to hear of a nearby murder investigation, even twice, but with the discovery of two more bodies in the last 24 hours, he’s at a loss for words.

Police have already been patrolling the area in recent weeks, but now Mayor Dianne Watts is looking at other solutions, including cameras. “There’s different intersections and access points into that area, and putting those cameras in place would really be something that we’d like to do.”

Howard says he welcomes the talk of more security in the area.

Watts adds that she wants to send a message that criminal activity is not wanted.

The bodies of two men, 26-year-old Jaskaran Singh Sandhu and 29-year-old Amritpal Saran, were dumped along the same dark, rural road in separate incidents on Jan. 29 and Feb. 25.

“I think that because we have seen two homicides since January, that has been a priority for Surrey RCMP, but I can’t speak for them,” says Pound.

Both men were known to police but investigators have not tied those cases together.
