An unexpected goal fest between the Canucks and Predators

By

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Andrew Ebbett and Jannik Hansen each had a goal and two assists as Vancouver defeated Nashville 7-4. The Canucks had seven different players score on the Predator goalies and empty net.

In addition to Hansen and Ebbett’s six points combined, linemate Mason Raymond chipped in with a goal and a helper.

The home team was up 3-1 after one period.

Preds goalie Pekka Rinne was pulled for the third straight game at Rogers Arena after Max Lapierre scored on a breakaway in the second period to give the Canucks a 4-1 lead. Chris Mason entered the goal for Nashville.

It was 5-2 Canucks after 40 minutes.

Nashville’s Mike Fisher and Gabriel Bourque made it interesting, cutting the Canucks lead to 5-4 with less than five minutes to go, but Henrik Sedin scored on a nifty penalty shot to restore the Canucks two goal advantage.

David Booth scored the final goal into an empty net.

The Preds outshot the Canucks 33-22. Roberto Luongo got the win in goal.

Steve Pinizzotto made is NHL debut wearing number 13 for Vancouver. The 28-year-old spent five seasons in the minors and missed the 2011-2012 season with a shoulder injury. He fought Kevin Klein two and half minutes into the contest.

The Canucks will be sporting their retro Vancouver Millionaires jerseys on Saturday night at Rogers Arena versus the Red Wings.
